OBJECTIVES:
This program consists of a three-week workshop which offers playwrights, directors, choreographers, composers, solo performers, and ensembles, the time, space, and support to develop new plays and musicals or to explore new approaches to existing scripts. The Lab provides a protected environment, without the pressure of production, and an ensemble of professional actors, dramaturgs, and mentors to help shape work. Process is tailored to the project's individual needs and stage of development, including readings, text analysis, blocking rehearsals, music rehearsals, meetings with artistic staff, and private presentations to the assembled artistic community.

ELIGIBILITY:
Applications may be submitted by playwrights, directors, or choreographers. The sponsor welcomes projcts at any stage of development, and prefers to have a committed director attached to all projects. The sponsor is interested in both established and emerging theatre artists, as well as artists making a transition from areas outside of theatre. The sponsor also welcomes solo performers and projects for young audiences. Artists may submit only one application.

FUNDING:
This program is held in July at Sundance, Utah. The sponsor provides professional actors, dramaturgs, rehearsal space, stage management, and round-trip air transportation, accommodations, and food for the collaborative team working on each project. Each full-time artist participant receives a $500 honorarium. (kww)
