Alliance for California Traditional Arts: Traditional Arts Development Program

Postmark Deadline for ACTA's Traditional Arts Development Program awards contracts up to $1,500 to support consultancies, mentorships, and travel opportunities. The program is designed to be flexible to meet the most pressing needs of folk & traditional artists and organizations engaged in this field. Creative Work Fund Traditional and Performing Arts Round

San Francisco and Alameda County Applicants Letter of Intent Deadline. The Creative Work Fund, supported by the Columbia Foundation (http://www.columbia.org/ ), Evelyn and Walter Haas (http://www.haasjr.org/ ), Jr. Fund, Miriam and Peter Haas Fund, and Walter and Elise Haas Fund (http://www.haassr.org/ ), invites artists and nonprofit organizations to create new art works through collaborations. It celebrates the role of artists as problem solvers and the making of art as a profound contribution to intellectual inquiry and to the strengthening of communities. In 2005, the Fund will award $350,000-$500,000 in grants to organizations and collaborating performing or traditional artists in San Francisco and Alameda counties. Grants in both categories will range from $10,000 to $35,000. Projects are expected to be completed within two years, but those of longer duration will be considered. To apply, organizations and artists should jointly prepare and sign a letter of inquiry of no more than three pages (including a brief, preliminary budget) and complete the letter of inquiry cover sheet.

Performing Arts letters and Traditional Arts letters will be reviewed separately. Organizations and artists selected to submit full proposals will be notified on or around December 15, 2004. For more information please visit the Creative Work Fund website:

Julie Harris Playwright Award Competition

Application Deadline--The sponsor holds a playwright competition for aspiring,

Playwrights’ Residency (Minnesota)

Application Deadline. Five fellowships of up to $9000 will be awarded. Fellows spend up to twelve-months in residency in Minnesota using the Playwrights' Center's developmental services, including workshops and readings with professional actors, dramaturgs and directors.
Applicants must be citizens or permanent residents of the United States. Applicants may not have had more than two different works fully produced by professional theaters at the time of application, defined as productions for which the author and/or primary artists
(actors, directors, creative collaborators) were compensated, and received at least three public performances. Ten-minute or one-act plays and university, college, secondary school, amateur, and Equity showcase/waiver productions are not considered full productions.
